About Prospect 44
“I make clothes for women that are style-conscious, confident, and sexy. Femininity plays a major role in my clothing—I embrace it!” Marlene Salcido, Prospect 44 creator
Marlene Salcido is sending style queens into a tizzy with covetable clothing from her line, Prospect 44. Never without her signature red lipstick, ghetto fab jewelry, and sassy gold nail polish, Salcido aims to bring glam to the everyday through Prospect 44. She is the ultimate lady, and designs for like-minded women who treat the pavement as catwalk and aren’t afraid to stand out in a crowd.
Salcido finds inspiration in her surroundings: the bustling downtown Los Angeles cityscape and idyllic SoCal beaches. Her feminine frocks and playful jumpers have an underlying elegance that plays minimalist palettes against feminine charm. Self-taught, Salcido has natural talent—in truth, she’s a sartorial sorceress. In her bag of tricks are girly ruffles, delicate crochet straps; coquettish bows; and sexy, thigh-skimming hemlines. Salcido’s use of luxe fabrics, like satin, linen, lace and silk, evoke interesting interplay between volume, form, and drape in her designs.
As with any labor of love, Prospect 44 started out a teeny part-time job, but within four years it has metamorphosed into a stunning creature: a successful label with season after season of sought-after, sexy pieces. Prospect 44 is sold in many online boutiques and in New York and Los Angeles storefronts. She also plans to expand the line to include menswear and basics. Prospect 44 has been featured in LA Weekly, Sport’s Wear International, Jalouse, Apparel News, Soma, Nylon Japan, Women’s Wear Daily, Metro Pop, Soma, ID and Surface Magazine.
